GENERAL RULES
- No body checking
- No fighting
- No alcohol on arena property
- Smoking only in designated areas
REGULAR SEASON
- Games start promptly at 8:30am, 9:15am and 10:00am.
- Games are 42 minutes in length consisting of three 14 minute periods
- 30 second breaks between periods
- Teams will switch sides after each period except overtime
- Games are played 4-on-4 during regulation time and 3-on-3 during overtime
- Each team is allowed one 30 second timeout per game
- Running time except for the last 2 minutes of regulation play which will be stop time if score is within 2 goals
- No stoppage of play for icings (except if stop time in effect)
- No offsides
- If tied after regulation time, teams will play one five minute 3-on-3 overtime period
- If games are tied after overtime, they will go straight to best of three shootout. Each player must take one shot before anyone is allowed to shoot twice.
- In the event of an injury, clock stoppage is at the discretion of the referees
REGULAR SEASON REPLACEMENT PLAYERS
- Short-benched teams are permitted to use substitute players provided that week’s opposing captain and league organizers are in agreement.
REGULAR SEASON STANDINGS TIEBREAKERS
- 1st tiebreaker: Total wins
- 2nd tiebreaker: Head-to-head record
- 3rd tiebreaker: Goal differential
- 4th tiebreaker: Total goals
- 5th tiebreaker: Coin flip
PENALTIES
- Minor penalties are 2 minutes in length. If the penalized team is scored upon, the penalty with the least remaining time will be nullified.
- Coincidental minors will be played 3-on-3
- Major penalties are 5 minutes in length. Opposition scoring has no effect on major penalty duration.
- Fighting majors will result in a 5 minute penalty and an immediate game ejection.
- Any player who receives one major penalty or three minor penalties in a game will be ejected from the game
- Misconduct penalties will result in a 10 minute penalty and an immediate game ejection. Misconducts can be issued without a minor or major penalty being called.
- Any player who accumulates 30 or more penalty minutes during the season will face an automatic 1 game suspension. Players accumulating 60 or more penalty minutes will face an automatic 3 game suspension.
- All conduct whether penalized during the game or not, is subject to review and disciplinary action if deemed to be dangerous or a detriment to the league.
PLAYOFFS
- Period length and rules are the same as regular season games
- Teams play one game elimination matches
- Substitutes skaters are not permitted
- Substitute goalies are permitted
- QUARTER-FINALS (ROUND/WEEK 1):
- 3rd Place vs. 6th Place – 3rd place chooses 8:30am or 9:15am time slot
- 4th Place vs. 5th Place – play time slot 3rd place did not choose
- 1st Place & 2nd Place – bye to second round, shinny from 10:00am to 11:30am
- SEMI-FINALS (ROUND/WEEK 2):
- 1st Place vs. Lowest Rank – 1st place chooses 8:30am or 9:15am time slot
- 2nd Place vs. Next Lowest Rank – play time slot 1st place did not choose
- 2 Eliminated Teams – shinny from 10:00am to 11:30am
- FINALS (ROUND/WEEK 3):
- 2 game finals
- 2 points for win and 1 point for tie
- If teams tied after 2 games (regardless of goals for/against), they will play 5 minute sudden death overtime
- If game is tied after overtime, they will go straight to best of three shootout. Each player must take one shot before anyone is allowed to shoot twice
