Greetings GTA Inliners,
The season 2 regular season has officially come to an end and what an interesting ending it was. With only the Icemen having secured first place and the President’s cup, the three remaining teams battled it out to determine the final standings.
The morning started with the Wise Guys trying to outsmart the first place team, only to have the Icemen freeze dry their competition and carve out a 5-4 victory.
In a race that was only separated by a single point, Made Men battled all their way up from last place to finish their regular season in 2nd place on the back of a 4 game winning streak. Playing the once dominant Dim Sum Mafia, Made Men poured cement boots on their rivals and sank them with a 5-0 defeat.
Congratulations goes out to perennial scoring leaders Corey Landsberg, for winning both the Art Ross (most points) and Rocket Richard (most goals) Trophies, and Idan Rozenblit for winning the Hart Trophy (most valuable) and Wingman Award (most assists). These two superstars once again battled each other with both scoring an impressive 3.64 points per game and just like the previous season, ended the season tied in points only to have Landsberg win on the strength of his goal scoring.
This season also ended with multiple players repeating as award winners with Tony Mooc as the winner of the King Clancy Trophy, Darren Magpayo winning the Bill Masterton Trophy and Vito Sanzo with the ever important GTA Foundation Award.
Shutting down the opposition were the trio of Lester Fernandes winning the Frank J. Selke Award, Dave Singh winning the Norris Trophy and Jeremy Chen with the Vezina Trophy.
Special mention should also go out to Lambert Choi as the winner of the Johnny B. Goode Award, Reza Khoshdel for winning the Most Improve Player Award, and Marco Melia and Danny Modaresi who both tied as winners of the Jack O’ All Trades. Lastly we need to close out by talking about Steven Habbous who’s relentless play, hustle and um…peskiness forced the GMs to create the PITA Award for being the biggest Pain In The Ass to play against.
Congratulations again to all of this season’s award winners. For a full recap, please go to http://www.gtainline.com/past-seasons/winter-2016/awards/.
